Now with our ability to better understand the actual process of aging we can do something about it.. But there remains the obligation to live life in a wholesome and right way. Reply Name* Email* Website Comment Cancel Allan Folz says June 13, 2017 Do you introduce yourself to casual acquaintances as PD or Dennis? I always thought PD was a formality you adopted for publishing, but in this video you introduced yourself as “PD.” If your mom and me are the only ones that call you Dennis, I shall cease forthwith! 🙂 Reply Name* Email* Website Comment Cancel P. D. Mangan says June 14, 2017 Yes, I adopted PD for my writing, my “public persona”, I’m Dennis to everyone else. We are Swedes and his English… well is not the best. Which book would be most general and easy to follow, Stop the clock, I guess? He is an inhaling pipe smoker, and smoking in my impression impairs a wrong/right mindset upon people “Well since I smoke then there is no use to…” After skimming through a few papers I bought him a vaping device, from the fast conclusion that vaping probably is less harmful, and possibly much less harmful than smoking, especially if one manages to use the the lower nicotine content e-liquids, and I guess use trusted/known brands. Have you had any thoughts about vaping as an alternative for those who are very unlikely to stop smoking? Regards Mattias Reply Name* Email* Website Comment Cancel P. D. Mangan says June 15, 2017 Hi Mattias. Vaping is almost certainly far less dangerous than inhaling tobacco smoke. While vaping is rather new, so definitive, long-term studies have not been done, everything about vaping leads me (and others who are experts) to think that vaping represents a huge health improvement over smoking tobacco. The main adverse effect of smoking comes from tobacco combustion products; when it’s lit on fire, the constituents of tobacco become chemically modified and turn into a myriad of carcinogens and other noxious chemicals, plus microscopic particulate matter that lodges in the lungs. Not to mention inhaled iron, since tobacco has a high iron content. Vaping has none of this. If I were to guess at the level of danger represented by tobacco vs vaping, it would be 100:1. I appreciate your interest in my books. I’ve been told by more than one person that Stop the Clock is quite scientific, so perhaps it’s not a good choice for someone whose second language is English. The problem (one I created) is that no single one of my books represents my entire health philosophy, although I suppose Stop the Clock comes close. If they seem to complex, I buy a pair of dumbells instead. Since he by nature moderate his carb intake, adding resistance training would anyway make the rest commentary as I remember… Reply Name* Email* Website Comment Cancel Nick says June 14, 2017 Dodged a bullet there, I have…you left cold showers off!
